Job description
Leader Education are recruiting a teacher to work at a small Secondary school based in Sunderland. This school caters for young people aged 11 to 19 years old who may have Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and/or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children with SEND, a strong subject knowledge and a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
This schools most recent Ofsted report was presented as "Good" as it continues to be a warm and welcoming special academy with a high focus on aiming to meet the individual needs of all students and families.
The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30 to 3:30pm and is a long-term position given a successful trial.
The successful candidate will have:
- An enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A qualified teacher status (QTS)
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND in an educational setting
- A compassionate, approachable and nurturing personality
- A great understanding of safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people
- A general subject knowledge and the ability to plan and implement individualised support strategies for students with a range of SEND
