Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Location: North Tyneside

Contract Type: Long term

Leader Education are recruiting an experienced Teaching Assistant to work within a North Tyneside SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) secondary school.

This school caters for pupils aged 11 - 16 years, all students are on EHCPs and have a range of abilities/difficulties associated with a diagnosis of Autism.

With a focus on 'helping young people to help themselves' emphasis is placed upon ensuring that students and staff work together to achieve the very best.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Have experience in a transferable role.
  • Follow personalised curriculums and care plans to meet pupil's requirements.
  • Work with the pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of the child's curriculum through lesson planning.
  • Possess good classroom skills.
  • Set up lessons, equipment, and activities within the classrooms.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other teams to create a holistic supportive environment for the pupil.
