Job Title: Level 3 Teaching Assistant
Location: Gateshead
Contract Type: Long term

Leader Education is recruiting an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work at a specialist school based in Gateshead. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, be able to communicate effectively, as well as having experience working in a transferable role i.e. health care or nursery practitioner. Any exposure to working with children who have ASD is desirable.

This school caters to students aged 11-18 years old with moderate learning difficulties and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including severe ASD. The school features a discreet Autism Centre and 6th Form, and all pupils have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday, 8:30am until 4:30pm, and is a long-term position, pending a successful trial.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience working in a similar role within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge of relevant educational policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the school.
  • DBS or willingness to obtain one.
