Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Location: Durham

Leader Education are recruiting a Teaching Assistant to join a Durham based SEND school.

This school caters for young people aged between 2-19 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This school takes great pride in its dedicated team of professionals, who's mission is to prepare young people for life beyond school, providing the guidance and support needed to ensure they transition smoothly into the next stage of their journey.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Have experience working in a transferable role.
  • Follow personalised curriculum's and care plans to meet pupil's requirements.
  • Work with pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of the curriculum through lesson planning and delivery.
  • Possess good classroom skills.
  • Set up lessons, equipment and activities within the classrooms.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other teams to create a holistic supportive environment for pupils.
