Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Gateshead
Contract Type: Long Term
Leader Education are recruiting an Teaching Assistant to work at a SEND school based in Gateshead. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, be able to communicate effectively, as well as having experience working in a transferable role i.e. health care or nursery practitioner. Any exposure to working with children who have ASD is desirable. The school caters for students aged 2-19 years.
This school is a nurturing, educational and therapeutic community. They pride themselves on having a positive and welcoming atmosphere. Most of their students have severe learning difficulties, many complex or profound needs.
The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4.30pm and is a long-term position, upon a successful trial.
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students.
- A good knowledge on EHCP's.
- The ability to assist in lessons and activities.
- Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
- Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
