Job description
Leader Education are recruiting for a SEND Learning Support Assistant for a specialist secondary school based in North Tyneside. This school caters for children aged 11-16 years old that have a diagnosis of ASC and describes itself as an inspiring place that supports children of all abilities access the curriculum to their full potential. The ideal candidate will express a genuine passion for education and have some experience working alongside children with ASC or complex learning difficulties.
This schools most recent Ofsted report was presented as "Good" as it continues to create a safe, secure and nurturing environment for all pupils.
The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30 - 4:30pm and is a long-term position, given a successful trial.
The successful candidate will have:
- An enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Some experience working with children with a diagnosis of ASC in an educational setting is desirable
- The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
- A good understanding of safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of children
- A compassionate personality and values honesty, inclusivity and respect
- A knowledgeable understanding of EHCP's
