Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Location: Sunderland

Contract Type: Long term

Leader Education are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to work within a Sunderland based Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school.

This secondary school is a specialist school for pupils aged between 11 - 19 years with Autism and/or complex learning difficulties. Therefore, the successful Learning Support Assistant will be experienced in understanding and meeting the needs of young people with SEND.

With a recent Ofsted rating of 'Good' and a dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about their job, this school is a great place for pupils to develop into happy, fulfilled adults.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Have experience working with SEND or vulnerable groups.
  • Assist pupils in lessons and activities.
  • Be flexible and resilient.
  • Work effectively with parents, carers, and other members of multidisciplinary teams to provide the best support.
  • Be confident in working alongside students, ensuring they are fully supported within their learning and general classroom activities.
  • Possess communication skills that can be personalised to suit students of different abilities.
