Job Title: SEMH Learning Support Assistant (KS4)
Location: South Shields
Contract Type: Long Term
Leader Education are recruiting a SEMH Learning Support Assistant to work at an all through school provision for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working alongside children or vulnerable adults with complex needs. These children require someone with a calm, inviting and friendly nature, who can give time to creating a strong bond with them.
This school offers personalised learning programmes to meet individual needs, they encourage their students to grow both academically and socially. They believe that the school 'Leads the way to a brighter future' for all their pupils.
The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4.30pm and is a long-term position, upon a successful trial.
The successful candidate will have:
- DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students.
- A good knowledge on EHCP's.
- The ability to assist in lessons and activities.
- Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
- Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
