Job Title: SEMH Learning Support Assistant
Location: Wakefield
Contract Type: Long Term

Leader Education are recruiting a SEMH Learning Support Mentor to work at a co-education secondary school provision for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The ideal candidate will have resilience as well as experience working alongside children or vulnerable adults with complex needs.

This school opened a refurbished site in Wakefield and aim to provide a personalised curriculum in a therapeutic environment underpinned by their school values, respect, integrity, compassion, honesty, and trust.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4.30pm and is a long-term position, upon a successful trial.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students.
  • A good knowledge on EHCP's.
  • The ability to assist in lessons and activities.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
