Job description

Leader Education are recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work at a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) School that caters for students in KS2 through to KS4 based in Gateshead. The ideal Teaching Assistant will be HLTA qualified, with a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, have experience working with children and young people who need additional help daily, and have a passion for education.

The school, who has 2 separate sites, expects all their staff to be highly trained to deliver a range of GCSEs and vocational programmes to all students and encourage them to have high expectations for their future.

The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30am until 4:30pm and is a long-term position that may transition into a permanent role after a qualifying period.

The successful HLTA will have:

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one.
  • Enthusiasm for working education.
  • HLTA Qualifications.
  • Experience working with students who have SEMH needs.
  • Good knowledge on EHCP's and how to implement them.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents.
  • Demonstrated patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for supporting student learning.
