Job Title: Graduate Teaching Assistant role
Location: Peterlee
Contract Type: Long-term
Leader Education are recruiting for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to work at a large specialist school based in Peterlee. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge and experience of working with young people as well as having gained some relevant experience to the role. This school provides daily support for young people and children aged 2-19 years old specifically with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
This is a long-term position with the normal working pattern consisting of Monday - Friday 8:30am until 4:30pm.
The successful candidate will have:
- An enhanced DBS on the Updated Service or the willingness to obtain one.
- An understanding of carrying out one-to-one support and assistance with small groups of students to ensure they are engaged and understanding the curriculum.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to assist with classroom activities and schedules and providing specific accommodations and modifications to meet the individual needs of pupils.
- A genuine interest in supporting and ensuring the well-being of children.
- To be considerate, patient and compassionate.
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant subject is desirable but not essential.
