Job Title: Driver/Chaperone

Location: Gateshead

Contract Type: Long term

Leader Education are recruiting a Driver/Chaperone for an alternative provision, safely transporting young people with SEMH difficulties to and from school.

This alternative provision works with learners who are unable to access mainstream education due to exclusion or Social Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Therefore, there is a key focus on providing an environment that meets their needs and enables them to build a future that is right for them.

The normal working pattern is 20 hours (split shift) spread over Monday Friday.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Possess a D1 Licence and have some experience chaperoning.
  • Provide a supportive and safe environment during journeys, ensuring a positive experience for students.
  • Assist students as required throughout the journey, communicating efficiently and effectively. Personalising communication skills to suit students of different abilities.
  • Adhere to assigned schedules - arriving on time for pickups and drop-offs.
  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of passengers.
  • Dress appropriately while on duty.
