Leader Group is excited to partner with a group of independent SEND schools to recruit for an Assistant Director of Education.
Position: Assistant Director of Education
Location - West Midlands or Oxfordshire
We have a fantastic new opportunity due to structural changes within our client's organisation. The Assistant Director of Education will play a key role in managing, planning, and coordinating at both strategic and operational levels, supporting the Director of Education in overseeing 8 schools and line-managing Headteachers.
Role Overview:
As Assistant Director of Education, your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the budget, performance, and quality of educational provision across 8 schools while line managing the Headteachers.
- Acting as a liaison between the Director and the schools' leadership teams to ensure smooth communication and task execution.
- Overseeing and directing educational policies, programs, and initiatives within the Local Authority and our client's group.
- Providing direction, support, and constructive feedback to team members through regular 1:1 meeting.
- Ensuring the effective financial management of the directorate, including ad-hoc projects.
- Supporting the Director of Education in maintaining and aligning each school's educational provision and ethos with the organisation's goals.
- Regularly visiting schools to support ongoing development and improvement initiatives.
- Contributing to the implementation of the SEND and Education strategy across the Group.
- Ensuring high-quality educational experiences and outcomes for all students.
- Collaborating with schools to promote inclusive education and best practices in SEND.
- Engaging with external agencies and stakeholders to foster partnerships and support services.
- Monitoring and evaluating SEND provision effectiveness and outcomes.
- Providing training and development opportunities for staff on SEND practices and pedagogy.
- Mentoring and line-managing Executive Headteachers, Headteachers, and SENDCOs across the Group.
- Analysing data related to outcomes to drive strategic planning and decision-making.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant degree in Education or Special Education.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Proven leadership experience in education, particularly within SEND or independent school settings.
- Demonstrated success in improving outcomes for students with SEND.
- Access to a vehicle, as frequent travel is required.
- Familiarity with Independent School referrals, Local Authority funding, and Ofsted standards.
- Experience as a Headteacher or above in an independent school, with knowledge of Independent School Standards.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
