Job Title: 1:1 Autism Teaching Assistant

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Contract Type: Temp to Perm, Full Time from September

Leader Education is looking for a dedicated 1:1 Autism Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing and inclusive 11-18 special school in Wakefield. This school supports students with a wide range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and is seeking an individual to provide personalised, one-to-one support for a student with autism starting this September.

This full-time, temp-to-perm role is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for making a meaningful difference in a young person's life within a specialist educational setting.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience working 1:1 with children or young people with Autism, ideally in a school or care environment; Knowledge of autism-specific support strategies (PECS, Makaton, visual schedules, sensory regulation techniques); A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach to supporting communication, behaviour, and emotional regulation; The ability to follow EHCP targets and collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists; A genuine commitment to inclusive education, safeguarding, and supporting individual progress.
